BIOGRAPHY
Alessandra was born in Florence, where she lives and creates her works. She grew up in an expressive context of fantastic and imaginary productions that put her in contact with a multiplicity of materials, brushes, colours, fabrics, iron, wood... that intrigue her and nourish her creativity.
When she was 20 years old, she started working in the field of education and was immediately fascinated by the way children explore, wonder, and marvel at manipulating objects and materials; it is precisely from her attentive and constant gaze on the world of children that she learnt to pay attention to details, to the little things that every object hides.
As a self-taught artist, I began experimenting by drawing lines and geometric shapes on paper and stones, creating unusual yet rigorous graphics.
In recent years, she has been searching for and experimenting with "lost materials", as she calls materials abandoned to the wear and tear of time. This has led her to make assemblages inspired by villages and ships—landscapes and boats that are unusual but possible in her fantasy world.
For a few years now, she has been attending the L'Armadillo School of Graphics and Engraving in Florence, directed by Manuel Ortega, where she has experimented with and acquired interesting engraving techniques that have given her the opportunity to embark on new paths of artistic exploration and research.
SCULPTURES
Alessandra's sculptures are rooted in the pleasure of exploring and interacting with matter, driven by the need to manipulate, shape and transform discarded materials with her own hands. The creative process originates from an instinct, a need to physically immerse herself in materials to give them new life.
The artist's attraction is to discover something precious and rare, a treasure that evokes the past not only in its shape but also in its colour and the very nature of the material. Each fragment, even the smallest and seemingly insignificant, reveals itself to her eyes as a microcosm, a bearer of new possibilities and renewed life. Through assemblage, Alessandra succeeds in restoring a sense of harmony and balance, an echo of distant and forgotten worlds that, while characterised by a precarious fragility, strongly resist destruction and oblivion. This artistic process thus becomes a celebration of memory and a reflection on transience.
Through her works, the artist succeeds in keeping alive the memory of a lost time, capturing and preserving the essence of a past that can no longer return but still lives on in the materials he brings to light. Her work is a bridge between the present and the past, a visual narrative that invites us to reflect on the value of matter and the meaning of remembrance, transforming what has been discarded into precious evidence of a world that endures, still and forever, in its fragile beauty.
ENGRAVINGS
The engravings offer a continuum with the artist's sculptural art, again Borghi e Navi in an in-depth journey that allows the public a brief overview of the technical and creative richness of contemporary engraving.
In his work, the artist explores traditional techniques juxtaposed with more modern experimentation, demonstrating how this ancient art can continuously renew itself and dialogue with the present. Through her work, she proposes to the viewer a reflection on the art of engraving as a visual narrative medium, capable of giving life to works rich in depth and suggestion.
